Hotel at the Watt in Detail

Your Yoga Accommodation

The organic guesthouse Hotel at the Watt is located between Büsum and St. Peter-Ording on a mound by the dyke, nestled in a landscape of meadows and fields. The restoration of the 250-year-old thatched-roof farmhouse focused on preserving its original character. The furnishing is deliberately simple and natural. The hotel features a large garden with old fruit trees and sunbathing lawns, beach chairs for relaxing, a sunny terrace, and animals including chickens, cats, a peaceful dog, ponies, and horses. In the summer of 2020, the House at the Seedyke was added, featuring a large seminar room on the upper floor, following extensive and loving renovations.

Location & Surroundings

Just one kilometre away begins the Wadden Sea National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in mid-2009: A unique ecosystem in the world, inhabited by a fascinating flora and fauna and governed by the rhythm of wind, water, mudflats, and salt marshes.

Dining & Leisure

At the Hotel at the Watt, you can enjoy lovingly prepared food (vegetarian/vegan) from organic farming. The kitchen uses exclusively ingredients from controlled organic, predominantly regional cultivation. The Hotel at the Watt is certified as an organic guesthouse by the organic control body ABCERT (DE-ÖKO-006).

Wellness & Spa

For relaxation, guests can enjoy a quaint barrel sauna with a wood stove by the pond at no extra cost, which they can fire up with the provided wood. Ayurvedic massages are available on request.

Organic at the Hotel am Watt

The crops are cultivated by vegetable farmer Jan Schütt, who brings the produce directly from the field to the kitchen. In the kitchen garden, fruits, vegetables, and salads are grown according to permaculture guidelines. "Our philosophy is to use what the soil and the region offer us, to grow much ourselves, and to source what we cannot produce from local partner businesses. Organic for us means being mindful of where something comes from and under what conditions it was produced."

In the kitchen, waste is avoided and it has become a virtue and joy to repurpose leftovers. Oven-roasted vegetables are turned into spreads the next day, and morning porridge becomes the base for patties and rolls in the evening.

Leisure

The Wadden Sea National Park offers visitors a fascinating insight into the tidal flats ecosystem. The diverse flora and fauna are unique, making a guided mudflat hiking tour a must. Birdwatching excursions with the NABU or a visit to the nature conservation centre in Katinger Watt are highly recommended. Breathe in the fresh sea air at one of the green beaches. A lovely small beach is just 2.5 miles from the hotel and easily accessible by bicycle. For a longer trip, the famous miles-long sandy beaches in St. Peter are perfect. Additionally, consider exploring local attractions: boat trips to the Halligen and islands, the Multimar Wattforum in Tönning, the Dutch town of Friedrichstadt, the Nolde Museum in Niebüll, the Storm House in Husum, the Hebbel Museum in Wesselburen, and the Brahms House in Heide.

Yoga Leadership

Ashwani Bhanot has been practicing yoga since he was five years old. Coming from a traditional yoga family, he learned yoga from his mother and various yoga teachers in India. He specializes in Hatha, Ashtanga, and Kundalini Yoga. His mission is to assist his students in becoming strong, flexible, and stress-free, positive, and full of energy. Students gain knowledge of the ancient science of yoga and achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual fulfilment by incorporating yoga into their daily lives. Ashwani Bhanot has led yoga classes, seminars, and workshops worldwide, pioneered the concept of "Yoga at work" in organizations such as the United Nations, UNAID, UNDP, the Ford Foundation, and has taught Hollywood stars like Richard Gere.

Anjuly Rudolph is a certified yoga teacher. Raised in a large Indian family of yogis – alongside her mother Tripta Bhanot and six of her siblings who are renowned yoga teachers – she was immersed in yoga from an early age. In addition to her Indian roots, her travels and extended stays in Uganda, Burundi, Syria, and Tunisia have shaped her, giving her a deep understanding of human behaviour. She says, "Yoga gives my life clear direction and connects me with the purpose of my being: to pass on my knowledge to my students and thus convey what matters most to me." The positive response to her as a person and to her offerings she considers a gift that fills her with gratitude and reinforces her approach to Yoga Lifebalance.

Dagmar Dührsen is a health insurance-certified yoga teacher BDY/EYU, practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine, and has been teaching since 2003. She completed her yoga teacher training in Germany and India and cherished studying ancient Indian philosophy, especially the Yogasutra. She has found her niche in Viniyoga in the tradition of Sri Krishnamacharya and Sri T.K.V. Desikachar. Her desire is to share her love for yoga and the experiences from her own practice in her teaching. She studied Ayurvedic medicine at the European Academy of Ayurveda, where she also learned Ayurvedic massage from various teachers.

Kristin Große has been working as a yoga teacher for over 20 years. She passionately supports people on their journey and loves creating spaces where one's potential can unfold, making life happier, healthier, and more content. Her focus is on gentle exercises inspired by Viniyoga, but also includes vigorous shaking. Conscious perception and feeling - self-experience are central themes, with movements integrated into the breath. Through numerous further trainings (in anatomy/pathology, joint yoga, spiral dynamics, meditation, mantra and overtone singing) and her work as a holistic energetic masseuse, she possesses extensive medical-energetic knowledge.

Simone Marek has lived and worked with Ayurveda for over 17 years. In her Flensburg practice, she specializes in holistic dietary advice and dosha determinations, as well as Ayurvedic massages for health maintenance and preservation. Her work with Yoga & Ayurveda is complemented within the Yoga-Ayurveda-Chikitsa-Therapy. Her knowledge of Ayurvedic herbs and spices "Dravyaguna" is incorporated into her work as an Ayurveda therapist. The art of Ayurvedic cooking, described in Ayurveda as an alchemical process, nourishes Simone in her daily life and is also used in her numerous yoga or Ayurveda seminars. Simone teaches Hatha Yoga inspired by Ayurveda and Yin Yoga, creatively incorporating other yoga styles into her teaching.

Peace, yoga, the best food and the vastness of the North Sea - perfect for relaxation

Something else to expect when it comes to Ayurvedic therapeutic fasting

Unfortunately only 2 stars ... If you are looking for peace and seclusion, this is the place for you, and if you "only" want to do 2 hours of yoga a day, this is also the place for you. I have fasted many times in my life and also done Ayurveda. Unfortunately, in my eyes, none of this has taken place in the Haus am Watt. (This was my theme week: Ayurvedic therapeutic fasting) You can also find a few sentences about Ayurveda on the Internet. No support or information on site ... neither on the subject of fasting nor Ayurveda ... someone who has never had anything to do with it is in the wrong place here ... you are more or less left to your own devices I think the crash diet is borderline for people who are not familiar with it and are left alone. Basics like warm water or hot water for tea should already be available (especially in the morning) as this is easy to implement and a must for Ayurveda

Just wonderfully beautiful and relaxing!

The Haus am Watt is very special, standing alone on the Dithmarsch coast, the food was wonderful - pure vegan, the yoga teacher was very open, approachable and empathetic, I recovered very well and got a lot of inspiration.
