Good to Know

The Mekong

Often known as "Asia's Garden of Eden", it is located in Southeast Asia (about 4309 km long) and crosses six countries (China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam). This river is one of the twelve longest and richest in fish rivers in the world. River cruises are popular here. During the rainy season, the Mekong rises up to 15 metres and floods the banks, creating ideal conditions for growing rice and other crops. The Mekong Delta is called the "rice chamber of Vietnam".
