☀ The Hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg is surrounded by many historic half-timbered houses in the heart of the old town of Frankenberg, directly at the market square. Thus, it is the ideal starting point for hiking or cycling tours, for example to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kellerwald National Park or the picturesque Edersee. Within walking distance, the Thonet Museum and various rustic cafes invite you to linger and rest.

The home of the Brothers Grimm has much to offer: The Ederbergland is ideal for a discovery tour by car, bicycle or on foot. There are plenty of hiking routes for everyone - whether through the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Kellerwald, around Lake Edersee or to the Hohenäcker quarry, the former brickwork. There are also various leisure activities for young and old in the near vicinity. From golf to sailing and diving over to the Waldecker mountain railroad, Frankenberg offers a unique travel experience. Marburg is about 35 km and Frankfurt airport about 138 km away.

How You Reside

60 rooms and suites with sunny colors and loving details, all equipped with bathtub and/or shower, WC, bathrobe, slippers, hairdryer, cable TV, minibar, safe, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Classic (approx. 20-23 sqm) mainly with a view of the inner courtyard. Superior (approx. 25-28 sqm) partly with balcony and view to the historic "Untermarkt". Noblesse (approx. 27-32 sqm) partly with view to the old town. Single rooms are double rooms for single use. Handicapped accessible rooms are available. Lift.

Dining & Leisure

The two restaurants of the hotel present the culinary diversity of the region: In the gourmet restaurant Philipp Soldan (open Thu.-Sun., extra charge, payment on site), awarded with one star in the Guide Michelin and 17 points in the Gault Millau, you will enjoy a nature-oriented and creative cuisine - a combination of traditional, regional products and modern dishes.

The SonneStuben restaurant has been awarded a Bib Gourmand and shines with amazing taste experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Mainly regional specialties made of fresh and seasonal ingredients from the Ederbergland are served. 1x a week (mostly Mon.) the hotel organizes a tapas evening (for a fee). Rich breakfast from the buffet until 10:30 am. Saturdays gourmet breakfast with sparkling wine. Half board in the restaurant SonneStuben with 4-course gourmet menu in the evening, also vegetarian food (other dietary costs on request, by appointment).

Wellness & Spa

Pure relaxation in the SonneSpa on approx. 1000 sqm in 1001 nights ambience with sauna (approx. 90°C) (Mon.-Thu. 12-7:30 p.m., Wed.-Sun. 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m.), sanarium (approx. 60°C), steam bath (approx. 45°C), plunge pool, relaxation pool (approx. 33°C), hamam and rest area with waterbed loungers, among others. Naturopathic therapy with holistic approaches as well as spa treatments (Wed.-Sun. 9am-6pm) by excellently trained pampering experts appeal to all the senses and lead to complete relaxation. The massages, peelings, baths and packs are largely based on natural regional ingredients such as honey, oils or herbs. Products of the Barbor brand, the Ebony men's care series and, from 1.11.21, the Vitalis body line by Dr. Joseph. Fitness room (daily 8-7:30p.m.).

Free Time

The ideal location of the hotel invites to extensive hiking and biking tours in the surroundings of Frankenberg. Hiking backpacks filled with culinary food and optionally beer or wine and an activity map with helpful tips can be rented for a fee (approx. € 49 p.p.) at the hotel on site. In addition, the hotel provides e-bikes for a fee (about € 39 per day), hiking or biking maps on site. To discover North Hesse is also suitable for the MeineCardPlus. With this, up to 140 leisure activities including public transport can be used.

TRAIN To Marburg, about 35 km. Train prices on request. Transfer from Marburg station: Fit recommends a cab, approx. € 80 per car/route.

Please note: There are no treatments in the SonneSpa on Mondays and Tuesdays, on Sundays between 10-14 hrs. The steam bath and hamam remain closed for hygienic reasons until further notice.
