In the middle of a large tropical garden, in an idyllic hillside location with a view of the blue ocean, lies the Soma Manaltheeram Ayurveda Beach Village, surrounded by coconut trees and rice fields. The resort is NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) accredited and won the National Tourism Award as "Best Ayurveda Wellness Centre" in 2019. A narrow paved path leads to the long sandy beach (please consult the Lifeguard before bathing at the beach).

Dining & Leisure

In the Ayurveda Restaurant you can enjoy 250 different vegetarian dishes, a variety of salads and fruit juices as well as a large selection of local and international delicacies and seafood in the open air and with a view of the sea.

Health & Treatments

Awarded with the "Ayurveda SPA Europe Certificate" as well as the Green Leaf Award from the Department of Tourism Government of Kerala, the highest distinction for authentic Ayurveda. Personal and professional care by an experienced Ayurveda doctor and therapist team. The herbal medicine used for the treatments is specially prepared at Manaltheeram or Somatheeram Resort (see below). A German speaking guest service is available for translations. The holistic approach with yoga, meditation under competent guidance and Ayurveda treatments leads to a profound improvement of various symptoms. Private Yoga session on request (approx. € 10/hour).

The Ayurveda Beauty Farm pampers with traditional Indian beauty care, which is individually adapted to the Dosha type.

Hotel rooms at a glance

Built in the rustic, traditional style of Kerala with environmentally friendly materials, the 44 non-smoking guest bungalows convey the atmosphere of a peaceful village life. All 61 rooms (approx. 14-18 sqm) have shower/WC, ceiling fan, cable TV, telephone and mosquito net. Standard thatched mud brick rooms and garden cottages, with sitting area or private terrace are ideal in Indian climate. Special cottages and Kerala houses with sea views. Kerala houses (with and without air conditioning) with 2 flats each and modern equipment, terrace and antique South Indian furniture. Single rooms are double rooms for sole use. Wi-Fi throughout the resort.

Relaxing Ayurveda in a paradisiacal resort

My husband and I did a 12-day Ayurveda retreat here. Everything was perfect, starting with the pick-up at the airport and check-in at four in the morning. The resort is beautifully situated on a hill above the beach in the first beach location, for us the most beautifully situated resort of the three Somatheeram houses. Everything is green, well-kept and in bloom. The hammocks and yoga area with sea views are a dream. The bungalows are functional and clean, certainly not luxurious, the bathroom is very basic, but still perfectly adequate. The food in the wonderful restaurant is great, varied vegetarian Ayurvedic cuisine. Everything is delicious and very wholesome. There is even coffee and omelettes for breakfast. The absolute highlight, however, are the treatments and massages over 2 hours that you receive every day. Absolutely relaxing and restorative, you notice how your battery recharges day after day. The friendliness of these people is great, everyone has a smile on their face, from the reception staff to the staff in the restaurant and the Ayurveda center. Many thanks to the whole team! This was certainly not our last stay at the Manaltheeram, we will be back.

A stay at the Manaltheeram with a booked Ayurveda retreat is not a vacation, but a healing therapy that is quite strenuous and demands a lot from the traveler, while at the same time those interested in Ayurveda get their money's worth.

The ambience at Soma Manaltheeram was beautiful, the staff helpful and very friendly and the treatments top! The food unfortunately became a bit monotonous after 2 weeks.
