Bogenvillya Ayurveda Guesthouse & Resort in Detail

Your Ayurveda Resort

The Bogenvillya, located on the west coast of Sri Lanka south of Colombo, is not just an ordinary resort, but part of the "One World Foundation". Besides its particularly spacious and lovingly designed premises and individual, comfortable accommodations, the long-standing personal commitment of the Austrian owner is also noteworthy. A family atmosphere and individual care are emphasized here. Guests do not feel like they are in a tourist facility, but rather as part of a large family where newcomers are always warmly welcomed.

Guests who choose the Bogenvillya not only do something good for their health but also contribute to the school project of the "One World Foundation" in Ahungalla. The school provides over 1000 children, adolescents, and adults with free English, computer, and tailoring lessons, funded by donations and the revenues from the Ayurveda resort. The "One World Foundation" promotes sustainable, gentle tourism, focusing on both the traveller and the host country. The foundation's philosophy is based on fair exchange: guests can enjoy the comfortable facilities of the Bogenvillya and experience a different culture, while the revenues from the Ayurveda resort go into the foundation, supporting the financing of educational projects. The close connection of the founder with Sri Lankan culture is uniquely conveyed to the guests. The staff offer personal, unobtrusive service, are open-minded, and always ready to give interested guests small lessons in geography, culture, and language. This promotes cultural exchange and offers guests a unique insight into Sri Lankan culture.

Dining & Leisure

Meals are served on the covered terrace with a table where guests meet for communal dining. The team implements the dietary recommendations of the doctor with a sophisticated, balanced cuisine.

Ayurveda Center

The Ayurveda Center is led by experienced Ayurvedic doctors. A well-trained team of therapists is at your disposal. An Ayurveda therapy at Bogenvillya is personally tailored to each guest and includes regular consultations and Ayurvedic treatments as prescribed by a doctor. Yoga is offered as part of the therapy, which takes place on the specially created yoga platform directly at the lagoon in fine weather, and can also be moved to the open hall on the adjacent property if needed.

Free Time

The extensive, well-maintained garden offers plenty of space to relax with a pool and outdoor lounging areas. The lush vegetation, the lagoon, and palm groves create a paradisiacal atmosphere. The garden is connected to the seemingly endless, pristine sandy beach through direct access. If there is time left besides treatments and ample relaxation, the staff are happy to help organize excursions. For example, visiting Buddhist temples, a boat trip on the Madu Ganga River, or a trip to Galle are great options. You can also visit the school of the one world foundation. The lively children of various age groups always look forward to regular Western visitors and are eager to demonstrate their English skills.

Additional information

Hotel rooms at a glance

At Bogenvillya, 13 modernly equipped and lovingly furnished rooms await you, spread across the main house and five adjacent bungalows, offering individual living comfort. All rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, yet no two are alike. Whether Standard, Superior, Gardenloft, or Palm Grove Bungalow, there is something for everyone. Since 2022, the resort boasts another gem: the 14th room called House Above Trees (HAT). Its construction is inspired by the Buddhist temple architecture of the late Middle Ages, also known as "Tampitaviharas." "Tampita" translates to "raised on pillars," and literally, the bungalows hover 6 meters high on steel supports above the mangroves. An external staircase leads to the spacious terrace of the bungalows with an unobstructed sea view. The bungalows (approx. 40 sqm), flooded with air and light through several sliding glass elements, are built from local teak wood and are equipped with a bathroom, separate sleeping and living areas, and fans. All share the European-Sri Lankan architectural style and the comfortable, stylish ambiance. Common areas such as a living and reading room with a library and a covered terrace complement the facility.
