The Daniels Ayurveda Resort is a sanctuary for those seeking tranquility, rejuvenation, and authentic Ayurveda in a uniquely personal atmosphere. Kottegoda is located on the south coast of Sri Lanka and is part of a region that is less touristy. The place is about 87 miles south of the capital Colombo and is characterized mainly by its natural coastal landscape. Nearby are the towns of Matara and Tangalle, which are important regional centers. The place is considered quiet and original and is particularly suitable for you if you are looking for relaxation in a natural and original environment.

The meals consist of an Ayurvedic full board, individually tailored to your Dosha (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha). Each guest receives meals specifically designed for their own constitution to promote physical balance and enhance well-being. Lactose-free, vegan, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, and vegetarian diets are available.

The Ayurveda Center is located in a separate building and features four treatment rooms, lovingly decorated in traditional style, staffed by four experienced therapists and a doctor. Treatments can also be conducted outdoors. Female guests are generally treated by female therapists, and male guests by male therapists. Your Ayurveda therapy begins with a comprehensive initial consultation to determine your dosha type. During your stay, brief consultations are held daily to optimally adjust the course of your treatments. The therapy concludes with a final consultation. Each day, you will enjoy approximately five treatments, totalling about two hours or more, pleasantly spread throughout the day. The diverse range includes head, back, and foot massages, shoulder and neck treatments, Shirodhara (oil forehead flow), steam baths, herbal baths, Udvarthana (full-body dry massage with herbal powder), and Panchakarma treatments. Ayurvedic medicine is an integral part of the therapy, used individually based on the recommendations from the consultations. Additionally, Yoga (Hatha Yoga & Yoga nidra), Pranayama, and meditation are included.

Culture

Pahatharata Natum is a traditional dance from the south of Sri Lanka, originating in the ancient Ruhunu Kingdom era and is part of religious and healing rituals. The dance is usually performed by men wearing special costumes with bells on their legs and often demon masks. Accompanied by drums and singing, they depict stories of spirits and demons through their movements. A key purpose of the dance is exorcism: it aims to drive out a demon believed to be the cause of an illness, thereby healing the patient.
