Hotel Hahnmühle 1323 in Detail

Your Yoga Hotel

Hotel Hahnmühle 1323 is located in the heart of Coburg and is the second oldest, heritage-listed half-timbered building in the city, built in 1323. Historically mentioned as "Haynmühle", it used the power of the Hahn River to mill grain. Over the centuries, the use of the Hahnmühle building changed from various mill operations, to a tannery, a furniture store, a café, and finally a butcher's shop. Through extensive renovation work, the half-timbered building, while preserving historical details, has been transformed into the splendid gem "Hotel Hahnmühle 1323". Be enchanted by the charm and power of the historic building. The well-preserved and visible sandstone masonry and the timber framing reflect the history of the heritage-listed building in the rooms. The Schlossplatz, Coburg State Theatre, Veste Coburg with its picturesque court garden, the marketplace, shops, and restaurants offering Franconian specialties are all within a few minutes' walk. The yoga sessions take place in a sunlit yoga room with large windows, just a 5-minute walk away.

Location & Surroundings

Coburg, located in the heart of Germany, was first documented in 1056 and served as the residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha from the 16th/17th century until 1918. This Upper Franconian city is rich in art treasures, architectural monuments, and history, and was even named a European City in 2005. The Veste Coburg, also known as the 'Franconian Crown', is one of Germany's largest castle complexes, housing the valuable art collections of the Dukes. Martin Luther stayed here for about six months in 1530, working on his Bible translation. In the magnificent ducal residence castle 'Ehrenburg', Queen Victoria had the first toilet with a flushing system built in Germany in 1861, made of mahogany wood.

Dining & Leisure

For breakfast, enjoy porridge, fruit, nuts, and various toppings, fruit juices, coffee, and different types of tea. Lunch features a vegetarian organic dish for detox, plus a dessert. In the evening, a light soup or vegetable salad is served. Vegan meals are available upon request. Dining takes place in the dining room located a 5-minute walk from the hotel, on the lower floor of the yoga rooms.

Yoga Room

The yoga room is located right at the historic city centre, at the foot of the Court Garden (the large castle park connecting the castle and the fortress 'Veste Coburg'), about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The view opens directly onto greenery, and there is also the possibility to practice yoga outdoors in front of the room.
