Anti-Stress & Burnout
In Taiwan, scientists investigated the effectiveness of an exercise program on burnout indicators and components of metabolic syndrome in bank and insurance employees.
As stress is considered a risk factor for metabolic syndrome, the three-month study was also designed to examine the relationship between exercise, metabolic syndrome and stress.
The sample was divided into three groups, one of which served as a control group, one of which underwent a light exercise program and one of which underwent an intensive exercise program.
After twelve weeks , both intervention groups showed significant improvements in personal and work-related burnout indicators and metabolic syndrome factors such as a reduction in waist circumference and systolic blood pressure.
The intensity of the training correlated with the measured results. The study thus proves an efficient risk reduction of burnout and metabolic syndrome through an exercise program.
