This clinical trial involved 100 patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) at PD Patel Ayurveda Hospital, Nadiad. The conventional treatment options for CRF, such as dialysis and kidney transplantation, are often not feasible for the Indian population due to economic reasons. Therefore, the study aimed to explore safe and alternative therapies to reduce the need for dialysis and postpone kidney transplantation. The participants were treated with Niruha basti of Punarnavadi kvatha along with oral medications like Goksuradi guggulu, Rasayana churna and Varunadi kvatha for one month. People with diabetic nephropathy were excluded from the study. The results of the study showed a significant reduction in symptoms and signs, serum creatinine, blood urea and urinary albumin levels, which were highly statistically significant according to the t-test. This suggests that the treatment protocol used in the study may be effective in the treatment of CRF and warrants further investigation.
