The aim of this study conducted by the Belokurikha Health Resort was to investigate the dynamics of cognitive function in school-age children with a birth injury to the cervical spine as part of a combined spa and therapeutic retreat with manual therapy conducted in a clinic.
A total of 110 school-age children aged 8 to 15 years were studied during the residual period following a birth injury to the cervical spine. All participants were divided into two randomized groups. The main group consisted of 55 school children who received a comprehensive spa and therapeutic retreats with manual therapy. The comparison group consisted of the remaining 55 schoolchildren who received the same balneotherapy treatment without manual therapy. The indicators of cognitive function after treatment with manual therapy were analyzed in the 55 children and adolescents aged 8 to 15 years who had suffered a birth injury to the cervical spine with symptoms of postural disorders of varying severity.
It was found that the combined spa and therapeutic retreats with manual therapeutic techniques enabled a significant improvement in the condition of the cervical spine and exerted a positive influence on the dynamics of cognitive function . It has beneficial effects on mental and motor functions, increases the flexibility and reserve capacities of the nervous system and can be helpful in coping with problems related to school disadaptation .
