The pilot study by the Onsen Medical Science Research Center in Japan looked at the health-promoting properties of green tea. It is assumed that the positive influence on health is caused by the catechins contained in the drink. However, these can only be stored in the blood to a limited extent and as Japan is not only an important producer of tea, but is also known for its hot springs, the researchers investigated the combined treatment of green tea and hot baths.
For this purpose, tests were carried out on two different days: on the one hand a study consisting solely of the intake of green tea and on the other hand the same with a supplementary thermal cure. The results were evaluated by four volunteers.
The study was able to prove that the concentration of catechins in the blood was higher with a combined treatment of green tea and baths than with a one-sided treatment of green tea alone.
