A randomized multicenter study was conducted at the University Hospital of Auvergne and two private hospitals in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on the effect and cost-effectiveness of a thermal cure on the return to work in women in breast cancer remission.
The sample consisted of 181 women in complete breast cancer remission. While the 92 test subjects in the healing springs group received a corresponding treatment in addition to nutritional counseling , the 89 test subjects in the control group only had a consultation with the diet expert.
Twelve months after the start of the study, a higher percentage of women in the thermal group were working and were able to engage in professional and family activities. According to the cost-benefit analysis, a therapy lasting twelve months is the most cost-effective.
A thermal cure thus proved to be suitable for helping women in breast cancer remission to resume professional and non-professional activities.
