The neoclassical hotel palace, built in 1912, is situated on a slope right at the entrance of the town and offers a magnificent view of the valley (renovated in 2017).

St. Joachimsthal is located on the southern slopes of the Ore Mountains, close to the German border. The healing successes of the spa are based on the noble gas radon. In the 16th century, Joachimsthal was one of the most important cities in Europe due to its minting rights. The city's history is closely linked to the mining of silver, tin, and uranium. The last active mine in Joachimsthal, called Svornost, supplies the treatment areas with radon water.

The historic city centre of Joachimsthal is a protected zone with houses in the Renaissance-Gothic style.

In the tranquil spa district in the lower part of the city, you will find not only spa hotels, restaurants, and the Aquazentrum Agricola with a mine sauna but also a picturesque spa park with a music pavilion, a children's playground, and a small lake.
