The Vecchioni family, originally from Pisa, belongs to a branch of the Counts of Piombino, as evidenced by their coat of arms. Their estate, covering about 1000 hectares, produced grain, oil, wine, and summer fruits. The livestock included cattle for meat production, as well as pig and sheep farming, generating income from meat and sausage production, wool, mattresses, and fabrics. From 1940, the estate employed about 10 people for services and another 10 for agricultural work. Following the agricultural reform in the 1950s, the estate was reduced in size, with political and market changes leading to adjustments in cultivation and breeding. After the death of Biagio Vecchioni in 1971, the estate temporarily passed into tenant hands until Federico, the son of Roberto, decided to dedicate himself to the estate 'Il Cicalino'. The rest is recent history.
