Europe's largest yoga seminar hotel for healing holidays offers a friendly atmosphere with vegan full board, yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic treatments at the on-site Ayurveda Oasis. Take a little wisdom - 'Vidya' - home with you...
Yoga Vidya is idyllically situated between the city outskirts and the expansive park "Silvaticum". The ashram offers a unique space to discover and deepen your yoga practice, to relax, and to recharge with new strength and energy.
"Vidya" is Sanskrit for "wisdom". In the ashram in the Teutoburg Forest, spirituality, yoga, and meditation are lived and shared according to Hindu tradition. There is no daily room service, and the dining hall is self-service. The lifestyle here is smoke-free and alcohol-free. As a crucial aspect of yoga is the mindful interaction with nature and all living beings, the diet is vegan. Throughout the ashram, there is an interactive sense of community and cooperation. The people in the ashram are there for you with love and dedication.
The area around Horn-Bad Meinberg is known as the "Healing Garden of Central Europe". The high concentration of spa towns, healing baths, healing springs, moorlands, and power spots such as the Externsteine is unique. For centuries, health-conscious individuals have sought healing, tranquility, spiritual experiences, and self-discovery in this region.
Experience one of Germany's largest organic vegan kitchens. At 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., a vegan whole food buffet (lunch and dinner) is available. Water and tea are available throughout the day, and there is a selection of fruits in the morning. The homemade dishes use fresh organic ingredients. Yoga Vidya places great emphasis on seasonal, sustainable products and supports local farmers and partners. Several dining halls provide space to enjoy your meals. For those with allergies, there is a list of allergen information at the buffet.
In the Ashram, there are 40 different practice and group rooms for yoga, meditation, and seminars of all levels. Additionally, there is a shop for yoga and Ayurveda supplies, open daily. In the Ayurveda oasis, guests are welcomed into an atmospheric setting with well-trained, friendly staff. Ayurveda health consultations and care by an Ayurveda specialist from India are also available. Upon request, guests can enjoy a variety of Ayurveda treatments, wraps, and forehead pours, as well as Thai yoga, light, sound, and chakra treatments, depending on availability.
Enjoy the beauty of nature with Nordic walking, hiking, and cycling in the splendid parks and idyllic forests of the area. Discover fascinating attractions such as the Externsteine, the imposing Hermannsdenkmal, and the picturesque old towns, castles, and churches in nearby cities like Hameln or Paderborn, inviting you to unforgettable excursions. For relaxation and fun, the leisure pool and sauna area at Aqualip in Detmold (about 11 km away) and the outdoor pool in Bad Meinberg/Vahlhausen (about 2 km away) offer ideal opportunities during good weather in the summer.
The ashram has 700 simple, functional single and double rooms with shower/WC, some with balconies. Allergy-friendly and wheelchair-accessible rooms are available on request.

Buffet manageable, yet plentiful. Rooms small, clean. Unfortunately no TV. Super many offers of seminars/healing therapies.

The food was great, the Ayurveda treatments soothing. But I couldn't make friends with the room and the location.

There were many options for yoga but unfortunately very repetitive classes. All in all, it was too mechanical and too esoteric. The Ayurveda spa treatments were great. The team was very friendly.

The food was delicious, but it was in the style of a canteen and had nothing to do with a restaurant! Very basic and uncomfortable. ... in addition: you had to queue for a long time to eat and if you were unlucky, you had to wait again until "replenishment" came... it was all kind of stressful.
