This 2012 study evaluated the safety and efficacy of a highly concentrated full-spectrum extract of ashwagandha roots in reducing stress and anxiety in adults.
64 subjects with chronic stress were randomly assigned to either a placebo control group or a treatment group that received the ashwagandha extract. They took one capsule twice a day for 60 days . During the treatment period, follow-up calls were made to assess treatment compliance and adverse reactions.
On day 60, the treatment group showed a significant reduction in stress levels and serum cortisol levels compared to the placebo group. Adverse effects were minor and comparable between groups.
The study suggests that ashwagandha root extract effectively reduces stress and improves quality of life.
