Diabetes
High blood pressure
The pilot study investigated the effects of a one-week fasting period compared to standard treatment in type 2 diabetes. Patients with T2D were assigned to either a 7-day fasting program or standard treatment.
Fasting resulted in significant weight loss, a reduction in blood pressure and improved quality of life. However, there were no significant improvements in HbA1c, insulin and HOMA index.
The study suggests that long-term fasting is safe and has potentially positive clinical effects. However, further research is needed to confirm the efficacy of fasting and to investigate long-term effects.
