Kerala Intensive in Detail

Tour 8 Days/7 Nights

Day 1: Cochin

Reception at Cochin Airport and transfer to the hotel. Cochin (also known as Kochi) is Kerala's second-largest city, located on a natural harbour on the Malabar Coast. City tour including visits to the Mattancherry "Dutch" Palace with historic murals, Synagogue, St. Francis Church, and the Santa Cruz Basilica. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance. Overnight stay in Cochin.

Day 2: Cochin - Munnar

After breakfast, drive to Munnar, a hill station in the Western Ghats at about 1,600 m with many lakes, reservoirs, forests, and tea plantations. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 3: Munnar - Periyar

Drive to Periyar, South India's most famous wildlife sanctuary, known for its elephants. Rest of the day at leisure. 2 nights stay in Periyar.

Day 4: Periyar

Visit a spice plantation (cinnamon, pepper, coffee, etc.), followed by an afternoon boat ride (approx. 1.5 hrs) on Lake Periyar.

Day 5: Periyar - Kumarakom

Continue to Kumarakom and travel with traditional boats and canoes through the water world of Vembanad Lake to the resort. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Kumarakom - Alleppey

On your way to Alleppey, travel on a houseboat past typical villages of Kerala and experience the life of the Backwaters' inhabitants up close. Overnight stay on the houseboat including full board.

Day 7: Alleppey

Day at leisure in Alleppey, known for boat races, fishing, lakes, and tranquil waterways. Overnight stay in Alleppey.

Day 8: Alleppey - Cochin

Transfer to Cochin (to your booked hotel in Trivandrum or Kottayam at an additional cost).

The itinerary is dependent on arrival in Cochin and is subject to changes.

The Mattancherry "Dutch" Palace is closed on Fridays and the Jewish Synagogue on Saturdays.
