The Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort is located on a tropical hillside, interwoven with stairs, direct access to the beach, and a breathtaking panoramic view over the picturesque Malabar Coast. Since its establishment in 1990 as the first Ayurveda resort in India with Western standards, it has been named the best Ayurveda center by the Kerala government ten times and is NABH (Ayurveda Hospital) accredited. Under European-Indian management (owner speaks German) with many returning guests, it is ideal for health-conscious guests who want to experience authentic Ayurveda in its country of origin without compromising on comfort and quality. A haven of peace and relaxation, nestled in a subtropical garden (about 5 hectares), where more than 200 different, sometimes rare, Ayurvedic medicinal plants thrive.

Food & Drinks
Our award-winning restaurant, styled in traditional Indian decor, features a sun terrace with sea view and offers dosha-specific, Ayurvedic vegetarian cuisine, also ideal for slimming and detoxification. Enjoy a variety of fruits, freshly squeezed juices, and numerous spices. Typical South Indian, European, and Chinese specialties are available for an additional charge.
Ayurveda Center
At the Somatheeram Ayurveda Center, awarded the Ayur Diamond classification and certified as the 'Best Ayurvedic Centre' 10 times, over 30 authentic treatments are administered under the leadership of the renowned Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Raman, former Director of Ayurveda in Kerala. A team of 13 highly trained doctors and about 70 therapists ensure each guest receives a personalised therapy plan with holistic care and advice. A 24-hour Ayurveda doctor is available on-site. In the in-house factory, approximately 225 Ayurvedic medicines/products are produced, regularly inspected by the government and awarded the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificate. Guests have the opportunity to watch a show production. Yoga and meditation accompanying the treatment are available daily in the yoga hall. Private yoga sessions are available upon request (€28/90 minutes, payable on-site).
Leisure
Beautiful outdoor pool and direct access to the sea (sunbed, parasol, and towel service included). The open-air stage is the perfect spot for cultural/dance events. Relax in the open-air lounge with a traditional tea cart and herb garden.

70 cottages in typical Indian style, located approximately 1-5 minutes from the beach - you can find a resort map under "Helpful Documents". Cottages made of natural or brick stones, Special cottages are more spacious, detached, and with sea view, either direct or from the front terrace. Deluxe cottages are bright, modern houses in prime locations with bay windows and private sun loungers. Kerala houses, up to 300 years old, have been rebuilt through meticulous restoration, each a unique piece with 2 to 4 accommodations. Kerala Standard and more spacious Kerala Deluxe with additional living area, sometimes separate. Sidhartha Deluxe Suite with open-air bath, living room and bedroom, terrace with panoramic sea view. Everything was perfect. The complex with the cottages - the location by the sea (the many steps were a good exercise for the knees) - the food - the doctors - the therapists - the room and garden caretakers - the yoga and pranayama offer - the well-kept pool. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. I felt very very comfortable!
