Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurological disorder in children. The study examined 43 ADHD-affected children aged 6-16 years for three months. The aim was to determine which Ayurvedic remedies could best be used to increase attention span.
The boys and girls were divided into three groups . The first group of 17 children received the Ayurvedic "Ayurvedic 1 syrup"; group 2 (14 children) received this syrup and a shirodhara (forehead pouring) with milk. The last group (12 children) was given the placebo "Ayurvedic 2 syrup".
As a result , the reaction time improved in groups 1 and 2; the placebo group showed hardly any improvement. Group 2 showed the best values, which suggests that the effect of the Ayurvedic medicine is intensified by the forehead casting (Shirodhara).
