‘Best holiday ever, however spadreams need to work on their communication’ Original review

The holiday was absolutely amazing, best experience ever! I booked a holiday for me and my mum on a dead sea resort in Israel. The hotels was 5 stars, food and variety of it absolutely fantastic. The whole trip was definitely a 5 star experience. Now I will explain why I've put only 4 stars in this review. As I've mentioned before the holiday was absolutely amazing, no complaints about that, the problem was as soon as I've paid my deposit for this holiday spadreams stopped replying to my emails. I thought I was getting scammed. It was so steessful and the worst part was whenever I tried to phone their office noone would pick up. I was supposed to pay the remainder 30 days before the holiday and by that time no one emailed me back or explained how to make the payment. I was so convinced that's it's all a scam that I phoned their main office in Germany and this was the only way onwards how I was able to reach anyone in spadreams in the UK. Only when I contacted them through Germany I was emailed a link where to pay for the remainder. I still felt very alerted about it because I've received only the link for more payments and not one email of confirmation of our stay from the hotel which I was continuously asking for. After I made the payment I was informed that my hotel was overbooked and my mum and I need to be transferred to a different hotel. When I asked for more details about the hotel no one could tell me anything about the new hotel, however they wanted my reply about it as soon as possible. I've agreed to this change, which ended up to be the best decision ever as we were transfered to the best and most expensive hotel on the resort, which was open only for a few month after renovation, therefore it is still a mystery to me why spadreams never explained anything about the hotel we were being transferred, as I said the hotel was a total steal! And lastly my mum and I were promised a free airport transfer, however spadreams never explained where to find this transfer once we land. We were expecting for someone to wait for us at a gate with our names written on the piece of paper or something similar since no one told us where to go upon arrival, and instead after half an hour of conversation with Germany, because UK never picked up, we discovered that the taxi driver is waiting for us somewhere next to information centre on the second level of the airport. I've lost all my top up on those phonecalls at once, since the tariff ina Israel is super expensive. And also considering that all this time I was under suspicion that this all a scam, when I couldn't find the driver I was getting seriously freaked out! All in all, after all these troubles my mum and I had an absolutely wonderful time, the hotel was a total catch, the food incredibly amazing, on top of that we only paid for breakfast, but the hotel included dinner for us for the whole week as well, which was a very unexpected pleasant surprise. The dead sea was absolutely fantastic, the resort is such a precious gem I highly recommend it to everyone and also the staff very friendly and helpful. It was a journey of a lifetime! show more

    • Hotel in general
Hotel is absolutely fantastic, the best on the resort. Very close to the dead sea. Locaton is 5 stars for sure. Great rooms, have everything one can possibly need and very helpful staff!
    • Service and hospitality
Everyone is very friendly and helpful and polite.
    • Cuisine
The variety offered was astonishing. Its hard to take care after your figure when you see so much different delicious food!
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
Not too fussed about the pools as dead sea is all you really need. The spa was overly expensive and I can't say the treatment is worth the price. Being in a spa was nice and pleasant, the people who work there are nice, polite and professional, however the treatments themselves in my opinion are not with the price.
    • Treatments and programmes
Too expensive and nothing unique about it.

‘wonderful relaxing holiday on the Dead Sea’ Translated by Google

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday on the Dead Sea with self-organized Egged bus trips to Massada and Jerusalem. That's how I imagined the vacation in advance. This week's break was very relaxing. Flight, transfer, hotel stay went smoothly. show more

    • Hotel in general
The Hotel Hod Hamidbar is a good choice - it is pleasantly small and manageable compared to other hotels in the area, is located close to the beach and has sea views. Our room No. 907 was in a preferred location on the 9th floor, almost at the very front, and the stay on the balcony was very nice. The hotel has many attractive lounge areas inside and out, super sanitary and changing rooms in the spa area and a family atmosphere. Internet places (unfortunately without printer), WiFi and telephone for free long distance calls all over the world !!! Wow! It is also very helpful that there is a bus stop in front of the hotel called "Hotel Hod". The rooms and especially the bathroom would have to be professionally renovated. The decor was very chic, but a bit neglected overall. A broken lamp was replaced immediately based on our information. It was commendable. The room boys were overloaded due to the arrival of new short-term travel groups, so we urgently needed to hire more staff.
    • Service and hospitality
Good to warm, the longer we stayed. However, one or the other receptionist has information weaknesses: Where you can buy stamps in En Bokek seems to be a well-kept secret. In the Petra Shopping Market opposite, where we were sent, the post office has been dismantled. The nearest post offices are in Arad and Jerusalem. You would wish for more stamp engagement at the reception (i.e. stamps to Europe in stock)
    • Cuisine
Wow! Great! Great, authentic and versatile Middle Eastern cuisine that allowed many new discoveries and taste experiences every day! Breakfast and dinner buffets were great and beautifully presented. We have been fans of intercultural cuisine in this region for a long time. We have, so to speak, made a "culinary study visit" in the Hod Hamidbar. The hotel's gastronomy alone would be a reason to come back! Shortcoming: a) The coffee and the singular tea offer were below average b) Perhaps you should buy slimmer double-walled plastic wine coolers for the restaurant, which do not take up as much space as the huge ice buckets.
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
Beach area with loungers, chairs, sun protection, evening lighting, lifeguard etc. very nice. Outdoor swimming pool was a good size but was freezing cold because it wasn't heated. That was a shame because we would have liked to go swimming several times a day. Otherwise, everything was just fine: well-kept marble ambience! Salt water pool with fresh water admixture, original salt water pool in Dead Sea salt density, jacuzzi pool, secluded and free sauna, plenty of beds and seating around the indoor salt water pool, 2 showers to refresh after the sauna, free water dispenser and and and. Super great and the dimensions were sufficient. Almost intimate atmosphere. Lifeguards and a lift for the disabled were also there for you. Good, friendly towel service! Conclusion: the wellness stay was very relaxing. The only drawback: the jacuzzi pool could be repaired (replace tiles on the stairs, repair plastic edging)
    • Treatments and programmes
and programs: Galina, Layla and Natalya as well as the two women at the spa reception - very friendly and professional wellness staff. Salt peeling, mud and algae pack - wonderful applications in well-equipped treatment rooms. Tea, water, cookies and fruit included. It was really great!
