Enjoy the ambiance on a walk through the expansive parks of this Czech town! Let your gaze wander over the ancient trees, the springs, and the music pavilion! The history of healing treatments in Františkovy Lázně dates back to the 18th century. It was Emperor Franz II who designated the place as a spa in 1793. At that time, the first healing spring was discovered, which has since unfolded its effects on the spa guests. Even Johann Wolfgang Goethe was a frequent spa visitor at that time. Today, Františkovy Lázně is known for 24 healing springs – all of which are alkaline Glauber's salt springs, among the saltiest in the world.

The charming spa town atmosphere is best enjoyed in the publicly accessible hotel café with a bar. The Imperial Hotel is located in the middle of Františkovy Lázně's spa park. The red carpet on the huge reception staircase to the imposing 18th century building shows where you have landed. The luxurious ambience of the imperial era can be felt everywhere and the staff do their utmost to ensure that nothing is missing. From our very large corner room on the 4th floor we had a fantastic view of the park. There was plenty of storage space in the anteroom and in the room itself. Those who can afford it reside on the floors below in 4m high rooms with balconies. Half board was offered in the morning as a self-service buffet and dinner as a course menu selectable the day before. The house bar offers drinks and fantastic cake creations, which can also be enjoyed on the terrace. In the basement and annex there is a small but adequate swimming pool with sauna and whirlpool, which is perfectly adequate for relaxation. Treatments and healing therapies are available for an extra charge, which we did not use. We were happy to use the video-monitored and barrier-secured parking lot in front of the house for our electric car for a fee of €6 per day. There was an 11kW charging option in the hotel opposite for 50 cents/KW. There was storage space for our high-quality sports bikes in the garage next to the hotel's minigolf area. We cycled in the mornings and spent the evenings dancing. There are two dance clubs in Františkovy Lázně with live music every evening and also occasional dance events in the hotels, which can also be attended by non-guests. At the Imperial, a band played for coffee on Saturday afternoons. Everyone can get their money's worth, from standard/ Latin to fidgeting. If you want to explore the area by bike, there are plenty of cycle paths, but be careful. Many of the paths lead onto very rough terrain. With gravel tires it was sometimes borderline. Road cyclists are better off using a good road map. In summary, we spent a week's dream vacation.
