Akanta Cherai is ideal for those who want to experience the quieter side of Kerala and indulge in a beachfront retreat.
Location & Surroundings
Cherai, located on the west coast of Kerala about 25 km north of Kochi, is renowned for its long, fine sandy beach that gently slopes into the Arabian Sea. The relaxed atmosphere, calm sea, and palm-fringed beach make it an ideal spot for those seeking relaxation. Behind the beach lie the famous backwaters, with their intricate waterways and green shores typical of Kerala. Here, you can enjoy boat trips that allow you to experience the serene nature and the life in the small villages along the canals. In the vicinity of Cherai, there are numerous attractions. A visit to the historic Fort Kochi offers insights into the colonial past with Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences, quaint cafes, and the famous Chinese fishing nets. The Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace) and the Jewish Synagogue in Jew Town are also worthwhile destinations. The combination of a relaxed beach setting, tropical nature, and cultural highlights nearby makes Cherai an ideal place to authentically experience Kerala and enrich your stay with diverse excursions.
Dining & Leisure
The resort's restaurant serves healthy, freshly prepared cuisine based on the principles of Ayurveda. Meals are tailored to individual dietary plans, primarily using regional and seasonal ingredients carefully crafted into varied, vegetarian dishes. The dishes are designed to optimally support the Ayurveda treatment, enhance well-being, and impart new life energy. The restaurant is quietly situated by the lake, allowing for a dining experience close to nature with views of the water or greenery. In a relaxed, family-like atmosphere, guests not only enjoy nourishing meals but also the healing tranquility of nature.
Ayurveda Center
The Ayurveda Center at the resort spans approximately 28 sqm and offers a tranquil, relaxed atmosphere for authentic Ayurveda. A skilled team of 4 Ayurveda doctors and 9 therapists provides guests with individual and empathetic care. In addition to the Ayurvedic sauna, various treatments are available, which can also be conducted outdoors upon request. This makes your stay a holistic retreat to align body and mind.
Leisure
Enjoy your leisure time in a relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor pool invites you to refresh and linger, while the long sandy beach is perfect for peaceful walks. For those who wish to combine relaxation with small adventures, local excursions (for a fee) are available, such as boat trips through the picturesque backwaters or visits to nearby Kochi with its colourful markets and colonial impressions. This allows you to enrich your stay with gentle activities while preserving space for rest and rejuvenation.
