Grand Hotel Therme

The Grand Hotel Therme is a new, luxurious, inspiring spa hotel in the village of Banya, near the Bansko ski resort (5 km). Built in an alpine style with natural materials - wood and stone, the hotel creates a sense of closeness to nature. Banya is a village in southwest Bulgaria (approximately 100 miles from Sofia and about 137 miles from Thessaloniki), first settled by the Thracians around the 4th century BC due to its thermal springs. Just about 2.5 miles away is the town of Bansko, a popular base for hikers and climbers because of its proximity to the Rila, Pirin, and Rhodope Mountains. Several trails lead to Sandanski, Melnik, and the Roshen and Rila Monasteries (UNESCO World Heritage Sites). Additionally, there are numerous routes that can be explored by mountain bike or on horseback. The national park is rich in lakes, waterfalls, caves, and centuries-old trees (e.g., in Baykusheva Mura).

The spa and wellness centre is the focal point of the new Grand Hotel Therme, spanning over 5,000 sqm (open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and just a few kilometres from the Bansko ski slopes. The warm mineral pools at Pulse Spa offer an extraordinary experience. The mineral water is sourced from a thermal spring 3 km from the village of Banya in the heart of the Pirin Mountains, maintaining a constant average temperature of about 58°C. It is rich in minerals such as fluoride, chlorine, sulphur, magnesium, sodium, calcium, and iron. The mineral water can be used both internally and externally. The combination of the region's pure air, the healing properties of the mineral water, and various thermal treatments offers you a unique spa experience at Grand Hotel Therme.

The village of Banya boasts well-preserved monuments that testify to its past as an attractive centre for thermal treatments in the region. The old Turkish bathhouse, with its authentic furnishings, is very well preserved. Historical records even suggest that in ancient times, the father of Alexander the Great, Philip of Macedonia, visited the ancient settlement to treat his health issues.
