The elegant Hiru Om Ayurveda Resort invites you on an Ayurvedic journey to discover your inner self. The fourth establishment of the Hiru Group, located a mere 10-minute walk from its 'mother house' Hiru Villa in Maggona, not only impresses with its beautifully landscaped botanical garden (about 1 hectare) featuring ancient trees and its prime location along a sprawling bay with a lovely private beach, but also with the palpable spirituality, attention to detail, and the artistic freedom expressed by the architects throughout the property. From unique garden decorations to tasteful details on walls and ceilings, and even a cheeky ship that greets you next to the beautiful pool. The extensive garden includes dignified trees, exotic flowers and shrubs, ponds, and quiet spots, as well as a Bodhi tree, a descendant of the approximately 2,000-year-old original from Anuradhapura, under which Buddha is said to have found enlightenment according to legend. The tree was brought from India to Sri Lanka and is today revered as a national sanctuary.

The charming town of Maggona is located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, approximately 5 km north of Beruwela.

In the circular, open-plan restaurant on the ground floor, adorned with intricate wall paintings, you can enjoy a menu of personalised Sri Lankan and Ayurvedic dishes (with options for vegetarian and occasionally white fish). Ingredients are partly sourced from the hotel's own vegetable garden, which also invites you to pick your own vegetables for the kitchen to prepare.

In the 7 treatment rooms, experience daily Ayurveda treatments delivered by qualified Ayurvedic doctors and therapists who practice with great expertise and care, in harmony with the Hiru philosophy. Some treatments, such as Ayurvedic foot or facial massages or even the final flower bath, are often conducted in the garden during good weather. This allows you to relax and discover a new, wonderful piece of art in the garden each day while your body is gently cared for.

Yoga

Yoga and meditation are perfectly suited to the expansive grounds, helping to align body, mind, and soul, and effectively support the Ayurvedic treatments. Experience your asanas and breathing exercises either in the open yoga pavilion in the garden with a sea view or, weather permitting, on the first floor in the meditation room.

Alongside the intensive therapy treatments, there is ample space and time for relaxed reading or strolling in the garden or along the beautiful beach. Tranquility and seclusion are highly valued here. The lovely saltwater pool is also available for sensory relaxation. You are welcome to engage in various leisure activities outside the resort; the Hiru team is happy to assist you. Ideas include excursions to the authentic fishing village of Maggona or by tuk-tuk to nearby places like Kalutara or Beruwala, as well as boat and island tours.

Hiru and the Om Symbol

The resort was originally conceived in the shape of an Om symbol. Although this was not implemented architecturally, the essence of Om can still be found in the garden, notably in a beautiful rock formation. The significance of Om is celebrated worldwide, especially in yoga, where yoga sessions often conclude with the Om mantra. The Om symbol ("Aum") comprises three letters, representing the three states of consciousness: waking (A), dreaming (U), and deep sleep (M).
