On the first day the first consultation ("Prakruthi") with the Ayurveda doctor takes place. With a series of questions and tests as well as the pulse diagnosis, the relationship between the three Doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha will be determined. This results in your individual Dosha type. In addition, your personal goals will be discussed. On this basis, the Ayurveda doctor will draw up a treatment plan and recommend how often yoga and meditation should be practiced. Every day there are check-ups to ensure your well-being and the success of the treatment. If necessary, the duration or type of application can be adapted.

Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort in Detail

Your Hotel

☀ The Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort, in an idyllic location with a tropical garden, directly on the beach, has been open for its guests for over 24 years. The house, which is certified as an Ayurveda hospital, is reserved for Ayurveda guests and their companions and belongs to the Siddhalepa Group, a family business that has been cultivating the Ayurveda tradition for more than 200 years. Besides Ayurveda centres in Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, the company also runs an Ayurveda hospital and an Ayurveda University in Sri Lanka. Today the company is also known for its Ayurvedic products in Germany, ISO-certified and EU-licensed.

The Siddhalepa Group

About 200 years ago, the Hettigoda family started to produce and distribute Ayurvedic products under the brand name Siddhalepa. The production in the factory on Sri Lanka skilfully combines traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with the latest technology and constant research and improvement of the formulas. The products are regularly inspected by the government, awarded Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are now on the market worldwide, including Germany.

The product range of the Siddhalepa brand includes essential balms and oils, Ayurvedic cosmetics and care products, toothpaste as well as Ayurvedic herbal medicine, dietary supplements, elixirs and tea. Guests of Siddhalepa Hotels are invited to visit the factory and learn more about the group.

    • Hotel in general
Many shortcomings after Corona, but efforts are being made to rectify them. There were no mosquito nets fitted as standard. One was brought after the 1st night with lots of mosquitoes
    • Service and hospitality
Friendliness and service were very good throughout
    • Cuisine
The food was typical of the country and very tasty but not consistently ayurvedic and lacked appropriate labeling of the type to eat or avoid. The choice was also very limited.
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
Very basic, there was only one pool. Sauna and steam bath were very moderate and only during treatments
    • Treatments and programmes
The offer was varied and was adjusted daily by the doctor. The implementation was good but not as intensive as I was used to

    • Hotel in general
The site is beautiful, but quite remote. Work is being carried out on the buildings - which is urgently needed. The main restaurant "Madura Bojun Hala", where meals should be served according to the Ayurvedic prescriptions of the attending doctor, has apparently not been in operation for months, which is a serious disadvantage. In the beach restaurant, there are no dietary instructions on the dishes. The main restaurant is now just a warehouse for furniture that is no longer usable and other items that accumulate during the construction work. A horde of macaques cavort in the densely overgrown complex, jumping artistically from tree to tree, even over the roofs, and sitting amusingly on the backs of chairs on the balconies. Nice to look at, especially the mothers with their babies - but the monkey poo on the paths is not removed but simply trampled flat and spread a little further with the soles of their shoes. WiFi is only available in the reception area: weak, low speed, limited data volume. So forget it, but even a Sri Lanka SIM card doesn't help much, because the transmitter is only halfway good at night, with many and longer interruptions during the day.
    • Service and hospitality
As usual in Sri Lanka, the entire staff is very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, they cannot fulfill all wishes, e.g. they could not replace the burnt-out light bulbs in the bathroom due to a lack of replacement bulbs, which I have never experienced at Panchakarma: There is a TV, air conditioning and fridge in the room. Ayurvedic sense? And there are fresh bed linen and towels every day, very positive! Communication with the resort staff is sometimes problematic, fortunately there is an employee in the health center who speaks several languages excellently and is always happy to help. Bravo!
    • Cuisine
Main restaurant closed, prescribed diet or instructions in the beach restaurant not available even on request. The daily buffets are good but very monotonous, sometimes the food is even cold. The salad buffet is extensive and always fresh, unfortunately with lots of canned products (olives, corn, tuna, etc.). On the other hand, the 6-person kitchen team is very receptive to requests and there is a special evening menu for all departing guests, imaginative, tasty and high in calories.
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
There are two therapy buildings, the building for the ladies has already been renovated (it certainly looks much better than the one for the men), is bright and airy and has large rooms; the opposite is true of the building for the men. The pool is large and is actually only used a little. There are plenty of sun loungers and the pool attendant is particularly attentive. Perhaps the many insects are the reason that only a few guests stay there, at least for me. Beach The small area between the resort fence and the waterline is public property and is used as a ball court by the youth of the neighboring houses. It is not advisable to stay there to sunbathe, although there are no mosquitoes. At the same time, the beach boys have set up a permanent stall there to do business of all kinds with the resort's guests. The area is flat but covered with very loose, coarse-grained sand. You can walk to the south or north, but you sink in deep, it is difficult and the sand is scorching hot from mid-morning. Towards the water there is a steep slope and the waterline is about 2 m lower at high tide, at low tide it drops slightly for about 3 m further. In this area you can walk along the waterline, I have only seen two spa guests who have done this, because even here it is difficult to walk, you sink in up to your ankle with every step. But you can go into the water very well, because it is shallow, after 100 m you are only a little more than knee-deep (at low tide, at high tide about chest-deep) and the surf is not as strong as near the beach.
    • Treatments and programmes
No synchronized massage; otherwise: as usual elsewhere. The focus here is obviously on medicinal (Ayurvedic natural remedies, of course) treatment; after all, the resorts were only built after the remedy factory, whose products are used for treatment in the resorts. You can visit the factory once a week, but I wasn't aware of any other excursions; on request, we went to a temple on the full moon day. There is also a cooking demonstration and a garden tour. Yoga is offered, but given the sloping area around the pool and the lack of instructions on the correct breathing technique, the lack of interest is understandable.
