Set apart from mass tourism, this exclusive Ayurveda resort, reserved for Ayurveda guests and their travel companions, is located directly on a fine sandy beach. Experience traditional treatments, yoga, and meditation of the highest quality with loving care. Guests particularly praise: delicious Ayurvedic food, authentic Panchakarma, excellent medical care, and outstanding service.
In the south of Sri Lanka near Talalla, close to Matara and away from the major tourist flows, lies the Surya Lanka Ayurveda Beach Resort, right on the fine sandy beach. The resort boasts a long tradition and is managed with great love and dedication to Ayurveda. It is one of the most popular Ayurveda hotels on the island for English-speaking guests, with a large number of returning visitors. The Sri Lankan-Australian management team pays close attention to guest satisfaction.
Fresh Ayurveda meals from the buffet are mostly enjoyed in the lush garden under palm trees with views of the pool and sea. Optionally, chicken or white fish is served 3-4 times a week and on BBQ evenings. Weekly Ayurvedic cooking demonstrations. Herb garden.
Surya Lanka is one of the few therapy centers in Sri Lanka that practices Ayurveda according to the original sources of the 'Ashtanga Samhita', the oldest preserved Ayurvedic text from the 6th century BC. Our highly qualified Ayurvedic doctors and therapists are specially trained to cater to European guests and receive ongoing training from the hotel. The team is very empathetic and there are 16 treatment rooms for personalized treatments of the highest quality, such as head, facial, Abhyanga full-body, synchronous, and thermal massages, as well as warm oil treatments like Kati Vasti or Uro Vasti. The Ayurvedic medicine used is not a necessary part of the treatment. Yoga and meditation by the pool or in the Yoga Pavilion.
At Surya Lanka, the Ayurveda Panchakarma treatment is divided into 3 stages (Karmas). During the Purva Karma (pre-treatment), toxins are gradually released through oil massages, internal oiling, and steam baths, so that they can be flushed out during the Pradhana Karma (main treatment) using Vasti (enema), Nasya (nasal/sinus cleansing), Virechana (purgation), and sometimes Vamana (therapeutic vomiting). The final stage, Pashtata Karma (post-treatment), includes regenerative treatments and final dietary adjustments.
A large pool in the well-maintained garden, where a sacred Banyan tree also stands. According to legend, Gautama Buddha found enlightenment under such a tree. The long sandy beach is publicly accessible but mainly used by fishermen due to the secluded location of the resort. Ideal for walking, swimming with lifeguard consultation (currents).
The resort comprises several buildings with a total of 43 double rooms, each with a balcony or terrace: tastefully simple, furnished with wood, and deliberately without TV and telephone. The rooms offer views of the garden or sea, and fans and high ceilings ensure a comfortable temperature. There are 24 garden rooms with garden and/or sea view, 5 beach rooms with sea view closer to the sea, and 14 New Wing rooms in the newest part of the complex, near the restaurant. All rooms are also available for single use. Air-conditioned rooms are available upon advance reservation and subject to availability (€10 per room per night, approx. UK £9 / USD $11). Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and lobby. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the living areas.
