Location & Surroundings

Katunayake, located about 18 miles north of Colombo in Sri Lanka, is known for the Bandaranaike International Airport, the country's largest airport. The city is a significant industrial hub with numerous free trade zones and offers modern accommodations for travellers. Its strategic location near the coast and excellent transport links make Katunayake both economically significant and convenient for visitors.

Dining & Leisure

At the Tamarind Tree Garden Resort, you can enjoy your meals in the Ayurvedic restaurant or in the serene outdoor garden, offering a thoroughly pleasant culinary experience. Meals are individually tailored to the imbalance of doshas of each guest to optimally support the healing and regeneration process. A special highlight is the unique sequence of meals: dessert is served first, followed by the starter and finally the main course. This practice is based on Ayurvedic principles that suggest eating sweet foods at the beginning of the meal eases digestion and stimulates appetite.

Ayurveda Center

With nine treatment rooms and a team of twelve therapists, the resort is dedicated to meeting the individual needs and requirements of each guest. An experienced Ayurveda doctor is available to provide tailored treatment planning and consultation. Private yoga sessions can be booked on-site for a fee (50€ (approx. UK £44 / USD $54) per hour). Additionally, acupuncture can be added for an extra charge of 30€ (approx. UK £26 / USD $32) per treatment upon doctor's prescription.

Free Time

The resort's leisure offerings include Ayurveda lectures, temple visits, and yoga. The 12-hectare garden is ideal for relaxation, while the surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for active leisure. For a fee, you can rent a bicycle or take a boat tour through the Muthurajawela Wetlands. Additionally, you can relax at Negombo Beach.
