Psoriasis / Eczema
In Ayurveda, psoriasis is compared to Vata-Kaphaja kushta and anecdotal evidence suggests successful treatment. However, there is a lack of evidence-based medical research in dermatology. The 2019 article focuses on thuvaraka rasayana, a treatment component believed to improve outcomes in psoriasis, also known as psoriasis. The case of a 36-year-old woman with psoriasis vulgaris that had been stable for seven years is presented. She underwent internal and external therapies including bio-cleansing procedures followed by Thuvaraka rasayana. After 43 days of treatment, the symptoms had significantly reduced with mild severity observed. Follow-up examinations revealed complete disappearance of the lesions and a return to normal skin texture. Although psoriasis is an autoimmune disease with a high relapse rate, shodhana therapy and thuvaraka rasayana were found to play a crucial role in the treatment of psoriasis.
