Researchers at the Academy of Medical Sciences in Moscow analyzed the effectiveness of the treatment of 162 patients with psoriatic arthritis in the resort town of Yevpatoriya. The therapy included brine baths, mud applications, climatotherapy and other methods.
A complete cure or a significant improvement was achieved in 21.8% of patients, an improvement in 74.3%, while no therapeutic effect was observed in 3.9%. In addition to alleviating the clinical symptoms of psoriatic arthritis, several immunological and biochemical parameters (albumin, lysozyme, IgM levels) also showed tendencies towards normalization.
The combined spa therapy thus proves to be an effective measure for the aftercare of psoriatic arthritis.
