A colonial beach resort with an integrated Ayurveda Center, exclusively for Ayurveda guests. A sanctuary ideal for relaxation, rejuvenation, and stress relief.
Located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, directly by the sea, The Privilege Ayurveda Resort, privately managed and built in colonial style, is nestled within a 1-hectare palm garden. The building opens in a U-shape towards the sea. It exclusively accommodates Ayurveda guests, creating a personal atmosphere that allows guests to fully focus on their treatment and the rejuvenation of body and mind. In the public areas, original, handpicked colonial-era collectibles and ancient stone instruments for herbal medicine production can be admired. The ecological garden, home to over 22 bird species, invites you to walk barefoot.

In the first-floor restaurant overlooking the garden, pool, and sea, individual Ayurvedic dishes prescribed by the Ayurveda doctor are offered. Two opposite balconies ensure natural ventilation, and occasionally you can enjoy traditional Sinhalese music during meals. Lunch is served as a buffet or set menu, dinner as a set menu. Also available are diet and lactose-free meals, occasionally white fish. Ayurvedic tea with a snack is served in the pavilion by the pool in the afternoon and evening.

I had the misfortune of traveling alone as I was the only guest in the hotel. That can be nice for some vacationers, but not for me. WiFi often failed and so did the electricity. The treatments were good and you couldn't complain about the food either. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The recreational value was quite good. If you are too fussy in life about the odd stain on your towel, this resort is not recommended.

Very nice facilities, especially the garden and the foyer. The rooms are large and clean. However, you notice that everything is a bit outdated. The kitchen, Dosha Gerecht, very simple but good. Unfortunately not a nice stretch of beach, very dirty. The treatments were good and very relaxing. Absolutely friendly, very cordial staff. If you have higher expectations, this is not the place for you.

I always felt well looked after in this small hotel and was able to relax and recover very well during my 2-week Ayurveda retreat.
