Location & Surroundings

Ein Gedi is located in an impressive landscape on the edge of the Judean Desert with views over the Dead Sea and the Moab Mountains. With one of the driest, clearest, and most oxygenated climates in the world, Ein Gedi offers a fascinating encounter of the elements, a stunning blend of nature, history, archeology and climate therapy. The region is a paradise for desert walkers and safaris with desert vehicles.
The kibbutz Ein Gedi was founded in 1956 on the site of the biblical Ein Gedi. Nearby are the remains of an old synagogue, the Herod's fortress of Massada and the caves of Qumran, where the 2000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
Ein Gedi consists of kibbutz, Dead Sea Health Spa, hotel with spa and convention center. The kibbutz also has date plantations and bottled mineral spring water from its own source.
The climatic conditions - dry and hot in summer and mild in winter with very little rainfall - are ideal for the world-famous botanical garden. A wide variety of cacti, succulents and other unique plants thrive here. There is a small zoo and many free-roaming, interesting bird species. In addition, ibex and hyraxs jump around.

Good to Know

The Ein Gedi Health Spa is connected with the Ein Gedi Resort by shuttle (approx. 5 km) and is very popular with many tourists (daily from 8am - 6pm, in winter until 5pm). Air-conditioned interior with pools with natural sulfur mineral springs, some seperated for men and women. The water is approximately 38 degrees, the temperature recommended by doctors. There are showers, lockers, locker rooms and a self-service restaurant. Outside are the unique therapeutic black mineral mud, pool (fresh water, seasonal), a natural solarium, massage center and bathing beach (shuttle). In the water, you experience a unique feeling - "let yourself go carefree". You can cover yourself with the black mineral mud that has been known for centuries for its cosmetic and healing properties. The natural bromide of the air has a calming effect on the nervous system, magnesium refreshes the skin and gives it resilience.

‘Since 1985 we have only driven to En Bokek on the Dead Sea. A Gedi was a surprising gain.’ Translated by Google

The transfer from the airport to the hotel we found very exhausting, because of the long wait (2 hours!). For the price this is not acceptable! Return transfer in a car taxi for 5 persons + tons of luggage (but 4-seater)? !!! show more

    • Hotel in general
After booking we had booked a desert room (picture in the brochure), but had a standard "garden room" received. We really enjoyed it on the grounds except for the zoo ... Can you influence the kibbutz's management in this regard ... especially the two crocodiles and a coon-like animal are really very sad there without any green vegetation, unlike the usual lush green of the kibbutz. Other guests noticed this neglect of the zoo.
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
The beach was very good, unfortunately, the first shuttle bus only at 9:00 in the morning.

‘The Hotel A-Gedi was the highlight of our Israel vacation.’ Translated by Google

Of all the hotels that is had in Israel, the one-Gedi was the cleanest, most beautiful and most relaxing. The staff seemed initially somewhat reluctant reserved, but basically are all very, very friendly. show more

    • Hotel in general
We had a Deluxe Room Plus. The additional costs are worthwhile, because you free spa area can be used from the Dead Sea daily with heated water.
    • Service and hospitality
The staff seemed a bit cool, but if you need help, helped you immediately.
    • Cuisine
The hotel offers the richest and most delicious breakfast we had during our entire trip had Israel.
    • Spa, treatment and pool area
The spa area is too small at full occupancy. Go back in time! It is to float in the Dead Sea fantastically beautiful in the heated seawater. You have dressed in the sauna and hammam. Some Jewish women even a T-shirt and short skirt, if you went into the water. Those are the local Gepflegheiten.
    • Treatments and programmes
Located in a Kibutz on a ridge. In Kibbutz there is a supermarket. The whole area is fenced and guarded. It feels safe. Außenrum is beautiful nature. The entire Kibutz is a botanical garden and there is free running ibex no fear of people have.
